I think that the ideas in Aswany’s The Yacoubian Building had been very useful to obtain new insights about the cultural intersections and cultural assimilations. This is because it had been difficult to believe that a conservative culture of the Egyptian society could develop cultural habits pertaining to westernization to a great extent. There had been no chances of the influence of westernization to influence the Egyptian culture.
